SmartCatch arises from a research work initiated in 2012 by a team of multidisciplinary scientists from the Laboratory of Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS, CNRS) and urologist surgeons of the IUCT-Oncopole and Toulouse hospital. The results of this work were patented in February 2015. Carried by four of its inventors, SmartCatch was established in September 2016 and exploits an innovative technology of physical capture of circulating tumor cells.

SmartCatch designs capture microdevices similar in their principle to micro-fishnets. These products can be used for early diagnosis of cancer, personalized therapeutic follow-up and pharmaceutical screening.
